Spring 2004 Fashion Forecast

Spring is all about putting the drab behind you and looking forward to
some bright colors, flowers and sunshine. I love spring more than any
other season. The first day that I can put on a pair of shorts to work in
my yard is so rewarding. I feel invigorated and refreshed! Spring
also brings on new colors and clothing. This is what you can look for
this season for spring fashions:
Colors -- Spring brings on colors of pink, pastel blues, and light
greens. Color combinations of orange and yellow are used repeatedly
in this years spring fashions as well.
Belts -- Belts are back. Not just the simple belt to hold up
those jeans, but the big showy belt. Belts are worn outside of shirts
and even outside of coats. One belt that you will see a lot is the belt
with a big donut for the buckle.
Handbags -- Handbags, evening bags, and purses are moving from purely
functional to fabulous. They have become a part of your wardrobe, one
of your accessories to complement your ensemble. The bags that we will
see this season are ones that have big belts and handles. Larger bags
that remind me of large shopping bags seem to be very popular.
Jewelry -- Big chunky jewelry! My favorite! We are seeing
jewelry designed with several strands of big gem stones and pearls (real or
faux) and the earrings are getting longer. We will be seeing more gold
jewelry than we have seen in the past several years. Chandelier earrings
are making their show for the second year in a row. The chandelier earrings
will be available in more colors than previously seen. More about

Hats -- Fun hats are in this season, from conductor hats to beach hats.
You cant go wrong.
Scarves -- Neckerchiefs are coming back with soft subtle colors.
Clothing -- Short cropped jackets warn over a shirt or dress seem to
be the rage. So raid your little sisters closet and see what you can
find. Full skirts with brightly colored flowers are hot.
Shoes -- Once again, the heels have changed. Instead of the big
square heels, shoes have gone to small and round heels.
A touch of handmade -- Embellishments on shirts, pants, and handbags
are extremity popular this season. I am talking about embroidered shirts,
appliqués, beads, and sequins sewn on your wardrobe. It gives it a personal
touch and reminds us of the 70's.
